- Resolves design problems and makes recommendations to management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of design activities.
- Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test.
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development to exchange information, ideas and techniques for design of product or processes.
- Designs major components or portions of a functional system, technically-advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products that develop and improve products and facilitate engineering operations.
- Trains, instructs, and provides technical guidance to other engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build technical and professional capabilities.
- Applies scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools.
- Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems.
- Designs and / or evaluates complex mechanisms and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions for commercial aircraft seats, suites and furniture.
- Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends/implements robust and timely solutions.
- Produce designs in accordance with customer requirements and company or industry-driven specifications.
- Presents concepts and presentations to suppliers, customers and industrial designers
- Subject-matter expert on complex mechanisms.
- Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
- Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
- Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
