The Finance/Grant Accountant is a member of the Finance team under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, also working with the CFO to achieve the goals of the organization. The Finance/Grant Accountant's primary responsibilities include budgeting and accounting for grants, grant financial reporting and analysis, and assist with preparing journal entries and the month-end process.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for managing the financial aspect of grants.
  • Work with program managers to develop budgets for grants.
  • Setup budgets in accounting software and monitor budget activity for grants.
  • Resolve accounting and reporting issues as necessary; prepare monthly budget-versus-actual financial status reports; identify issues, concerns and problems and communicate with program managers.
  • Audit grant accounting data, identify and correct errors, identify and compute accruals, apply accounting principles to transactions and recommend revisions in departmental accounting procedures to ensure conformance with applicable statues, laws, Agency polices and General Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ensure the timely submission of various financial reports, as required by government agencies and third-party payers.
  • Monitor grant contractor and sub-recipients agreements. Review budgets and reimbursement requests for appropriateness, and ensure sub-recipients are in compliance with established administrative and financial policies, procedures, and sound business practices.
  • Review and update Federal Internal Control and Procedures annually or when significant changes are necessary. Assist with updating other financial policies and procedures.
  • Work with Contracting and Program Supervisors to ensure proper set up for new programs.
  • Responsible for Single audit.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and reforecasting financial projections.
  • Assist with maintaining financial management reporting software.
  • Month End and Year End Processes
  • Assist with preparing journal entries and the month-end process.
  • Assist with preparing information needed for the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain positive internal and external customer service relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to solve issues and questions that may arise.
  • Maintain open lines of communication
  • Demonstrates team behavior and promote a team-oriented environment within the agency.
  • Complete other tasks, projects and responsibilities as needed and/or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a business-related field with an accounting concentration.
  • Five years' experience in accounting and business administration.
  • Experience with computer-based accounting systems and proficient in Microsoft Excel required; Experience with Word and GP Dynamics preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and agreement with the goal, purpose and objectives of the agency.
