Position SummaryThe Department of at the is seeking qualified applicants for our clinical-track faculty position to teach the students and residents in the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) programs. This will be a 12-month appointment at the rank of assistant professor at 1.0 FTE, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024, or sooner.YOUR TEACHING AND LEADERSHIP MATTERSOur bold new vision through the is designed to increase the number of job-ready graduates for an innovation-led economy, fuel economic growth in the region and the state, and enhance service to the Indianapolis community and beyond. We are seeking a new faculty member with proficiency in all aspects of digital innovation and laboratory technologies to teach students and residents in the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) programs about contemporary technologies in dentistry, and to prepare graduates for future evolving dental careers.Our new faculty member will:

- be responsible for the education, mentorship, and instruction of faculty, students, staff, and residents in the courses assigned
- be expected to collaborate with faculty and students from Indiana University Fort Wayne's Dental Technology program.
- supporting course directors by implementing and demonstrating dental technologies in both didactic and preclinical settings.
- assisting both predoctoral and graduate program directors in developing and updating courses.
- teaching, managing, and promoting the use of technology in didactic and preclinical laboratory courses.
- developing a comprehensive predoctoral curriculum that encompasses advanced and emerging technologies.
- overseeing the digital technology operations within the dental school's clinical settings
- collaborating with course and clinical directors to track and enhance students' and residents' clinical progression, with an emphasis on standards in scanning, digital design, and the production of dental prostheses.
- managing the daily operations, maintenance of digital equipment and software, inventory oversight, drafting of purchase orders, stock control, and vendor communications.
Basic QualificationsFull consideration will be given to candidates who possess the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent for international applicants, preferably in the field of Dental Technology.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a dental laboratory technician
- Proficiency in practical applications of current digital dentistry workflows, including intraoral scanners, laboratory scanners, CAD/CAM software, implant planning software, 3D-printing, and milling procedures, along with maintenance of digital laboratory equipment.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of dental prostheses, devices, and associated technologies.
- Familiarity with dental materials, including ceramics, polymers, and metal alloys, and their appropriate use in digital fabrication.
- Understanding of dental anatomy and occlusion to ensure proper design and fit of prosthetics.
- Knowledge of relevant safety and hygiene protocols in a dental laboratory setting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise between the dental team and patients when necessary.
- Certified Dental Technician - by The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology or its equivalent for international applicants
- Master Dental Technologist (MDT) - by the American Society of Master Dental Technologists or its equivalent for international applicants
- Prior teaching experience in the discipline of Prosthodontics or Dental Technology.
- Advanced degree (such as PhD, DDS, DMD, MS, or MSD) in the field of teaching, dental materials, or dental technology.
