Postdoctoral Fellow, Psychosocial-Oncology, NewarkChristianaCare's Behavioral Health Service line is looking to hire a full-time Post Doctoral Fellow for the Psycho-Social Oncology practice at the Helen. F. Graham Center, Newark.The Post Doctoral Fellow will provide direct clinical services to medical patients and family members, serve on multidisciplinary teams to provide care optimization by addressing the social and behavioral determinants of health that impact treatment adherence and healthcare inequity, engage in the provision of supervision, program development, and training activities/faculty development in accordance with training goals, and complete relevant supervision and training requirement according to Delaware Psychology Licensure. The fellowship is aligned with Christiana Care strategy and designed to prepare psychologists for a career in integrated behavioral medicine in accordance with Optimal Health, Exceptional Experience, Caregiver Experience, and Organizational Vitality.This is a one-year training program with Psychologist career opportunities available post training.Prospective candidates should submit a completed application packet, including:

Key Responsibilities:Provide direct ambulatory clinical services to medical patients and family members while taking individual, cultural, and social determinants of health factors into consideration.
The direct clinical services may include the following:
  • Phone-based consultation and triage for newly referred patients.
  • Psycho-diagnostic evaluation.
  • Individual, couples, and family psychotherapy.
  • Health behavior assessment and intervention services.
  • Referral to internal and external behavioral health specialists or care providers as needed.
  • Crisis management as needed.
  • Provide acute care clinical services to medical patients and family members.
The clinical services may include the following:
  • Provide direct patient consultation and brief intervention.
  • Provide provider consultation regarding the patient's care needs and the social and behavioral determinants of health.
  • Serve on Multidisciplinary Teams to optimize care by addressing the social and behavioral determinants of health that impact treatment adherence and healthcare inequity.
  • Provide direct patient consultation and brief intervention.
  • Provide provider consultation regarding the patient's care needs and the social and behavioral determinants of health.
  • Attend relevant multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide integrated behavioral medicine care in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Concord Health Center.
Integrated care services may include:
  • Provide direct patient consultation and brief intervention.
  • Provide provider consultation.
  • Provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy.
Training, Education, and Supervision:
  • Engage in training and supervision activities with psychology externs, interns, and other healthcare trainees under the supervision of the licensed supervising psychologist.
  • Develop training initiatives to provide relevant educational activities across the healthcare system.
  • Receive weekly supervision in accordance with requirements for obtaining Delaware Psychology Licensure.
  • Participate in relevant training and education opportunities with the behavioral health training program and the healthcare organization.
Research/Program Development:
  • Engage in ongoing research, program development & evaluation, and quality improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement and individual research, program development/evaluation and/or quality improvement project over the course of the fellowship.
Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited psychology program. If the degree is not yet conferred, the applicant must have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree by the start of the fellowship.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
  • Specialty training, clinical experience, and/or expressed interest in Psycho-Oncology.
  • Interest in behavioral medicine program development & evaluation, community outreach, and/or clinical supervision is strongly desired.
  • Interest in addressing health inequities through social, psychological, behavioral, and ecological factors strongly desired.
