- Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
- Operate equipment used in construction in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
- Ensure risk-free operation of equipment by performing pre-operation and regular checks on their functionality.
- Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is accurately positioned.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
- Must have a clear understanding of, and follow the principles of our Policies and Procedures.
- Promote, implement and comply to the Safety Program standards.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
- At least three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment unassisted.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Frequently lift 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed.
- Three to four years of a combination of technical instruction and on-the-job training or field training.
- Follow all safety protocols.
- Ability to read gauges, dials and other indicators.
- Troubleshoot any issues and fix the problems with critical thinking.
- Effective communication, including speaking, writing, active listening and taking instructions from management team.
- Practical knowledge of reading blueprints and manuals.
- Excellent time management.
- Attention to detail to identify maintenance, product or operations issues.
