BGF Industries is looking for a Direct Raw Material Planner in their Danville, VA location.Job’s Legitimation: Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Direct Raw Material Planner ensures the supply of Raw Materials and its availability (right product in the right quantity at the right time) in the factories, while improving the Suppliers Delivery Performance, reducing inbound logistics costs, and optimizing cash flows.Main missions:
  • Ensure the procurement of necessary raw materials needed for the whole production process, for both RM suppliers and subcontractors,
  • Build and implement the optimized supply plan (for raw material and subcontracting) by means of the customer orders and forecast base, the master production schedule and the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP),
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer needs,
  • Define and follow-up the direct raw material inventory management policy, while ensuring the right set-up in the system,
  • Process and follow-up of purchasing requests and orders to suppliers until delivery, while managing and improving the Suppliers Delivery Performance through action plan
  • Support continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery,
  • Ensures that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all supply chain department functions
Main activities:
  • Follow the execution of the purchase contract
  • Develop the procurement plan with oversight from Procurement Manager
  • Review and communicate to the suppliers the Raw Materials Requirements Forecasts,
  • Place replenishment orders, Purchase orders, track and monitor them by contacting the suppliers and updating the M3 System, to always ensure high level of product availability,
  • Record of order confirmations in ERP System Infor M3,
  • Ensures accurate supply planning data in ERP system to drive effective use of systems tools for planning,
  • Guarantee the proper execution of these contracts,
  • Complaint processing in collaboration with Quality Management Department, handling of disputes / invoices with Purchasing and Controlling Departments,
  • Review and update stock parameters, and RM Full Flows set-up (including also Transportation, Items management, Suppliers, Customs, Forecasts, POs)
  • Monitor delivery times and follow-up with suppliers, and assess the impact on the production plan and to customers, propose scenario to fix issues, by building action plan
  • Manage the consignment stock supply and consumptions declaration,
  • Deal with overstocks and risks of shortages/stock-out by setting alerts, put in place ad ’hoc reports and SAS BI tools as counter measures to optimize inventory level (meeting Target), to reduce stock obsolescence and lead time and to improve product availability contributing to Customer Service,
  • Review proactively risk of material shortages, stock outages, and safety stock levels while working with PM and Manufacturing to fit the demand,
  • Monitor Supplier OTIF and Evaluate Supplier Delivery Performance (Scoreboard), Analyse it, Identify Root Causes and propose action plan to improve it,
  • Search for continuous improvement in the fields of Supply Chain, and contribute to supplier Delivery Performance improvement Project
  • EDI, Pull Flow (ex. VMI, Kanban, Reorder Point), Consignment Stock
  • Use Standard reports and analysis as directed by Procurement Manager
  • Supplier OTIF, and Deviations Root Causes Analysis, and Action plan Follow-up,
  • Back-Orders Status
  • Supplier Requested vs Confirmed Lead Time Gap monitoring,
  • Load vs Capacity, for critical Suppliers (ex. Overseas, Large purchasing spent Value, single source),
  • RM Inventory projection, slow movers reduction program,
  • Inbound Logistic Cost,
  • Lead and animate staff members, develop staff members skills, evaluate

> min. 5-10 years’ experience in Material Planning/Inventory Management or Supply Chain roles: Purchasing, Procurement, Production planning,
> Robust understanding of the MPS, S&OP planning processes, and Purchasing
> Experience in Lean Manufacturing: Value Stream Mapping, Pull Flow, Kanban,
> Knowledge of, and experience with EDI, forecasting and supply planning tools (e.g., M3 as a plus, SAP, etc.)
> Analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities,
> Can function autonomously and in a team,
