Job Title: Early Childhood Programs Preschool Lead Teacher (4-5-Year-olds)Reports to: Rian Hood, Early Childhood Education Program CoordinatorPosition Description: The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting activities contributing to the language, educational, social-emotional, and physical development of children in order to equip them for a successful transition into Kindergarten. This position requires creativity and adaptive thinking to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans that will support a half-day Preschool Program. Bachelor or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Prefered but not required. Step 9 in the Oregon Registry is preferred but not required. Minimum of 2 years of Preschool Lead Teacher Experience is desired. They must be passionate about working with young children, have good communication skills, and enjoy collaboration with other team members. Candidates must be patient and empathetic towards children from diverse social backgrounds and with a wide range of learning abilities.Wages & Hours: Up to $23/hour depending on Education and Experience. Class hours are from 8:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Working hours are from 7:30 AM - 1:30 Pm. (Part Time 31 hours)This is an “At Will” position (NO CONTRACT) and follows the Oregon City School District Calendar.Specific Requirements:
Bachelor or Associate Degree Prefered.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and learning assessments.
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with all staff and parents
Completed a minimum of 2 years as a Preschool Lead Teacher in a licensed center, preschool, church-operated school, or similar setting.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for children
Teach up to 10 children in both large and small group settings
Ability to be on the floor at the child's level when necessary
Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and coworkers
Attend all staff meetings, all professional development, and in-service training days
Demonstrate excellent attendance & punctuality
Ensure that the programs are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate and follow Oregon City School District and Oregon City Community Education policies, procedures, and mission.
