- Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct/direct construction of specified structure; develops additional sketches if needed.
- Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength.
- Directs and/or cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Oversees and/or measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Directs/connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
- Performs/leads assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
- Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.
- Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
- Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
- Mandates/maintains clean and orderly work space for self and subordinates.
- Performs/directs other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to lead/complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
- Ability to direct safe use/safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
- Ability to disseminate and follow directions.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a Journeyman License and 8 years of sheetmetal/fabrication experience required.
- Master Sheetmetal Worker license is diserable but not required.
- Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures as well as small confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
