FRAMINGHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLSADULT ESL PLUSTITLE:Adult ESL Front Desk Attendant, MilfordPOSITION SUMMARY:Framingham Adult ESL Plus is a part-time, grant-funded program that offers classes at no cost to adult learners in the Metrowest area. The program offers morning and evening classes in English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency, and Citizenship. The program offers classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between September and June. This position will happen from 5:45-9:45 PM on those days.Our evening Milford classes are located at Stacy Middle School. In addition to our students and staff, there are often public events happening in the building. The program needs someone to staff the front doors, screen visitors, direct them to the appropriate part of the building, and ensure public health precautions are being met.OUR MISSION:Framingham Public Schools is committed to excellence for all students.   • You will staff the front desk at Stacy Middle School, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:45-9:45 PM, greet visitors in a friendly and professional way, and answer questions.
  • If the district requires that the doors be locked, you will open the door to admit entry.
  • When needed, ask for identification from visitors.
  • You may need to receive complaints and present them to school administrators.
  • Ensure that public health and safety protocols are being observed.
  • You may be asked to deal with problems involving parking.
  • You may be asked to help in emergency situations (e.g., call 911, admit emergency services into the building when they are called).
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally seated, but may be regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The student may be asked to go outside and help direct parking in a paved parking lot. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s/he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. In the classroom, the employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students, visitors, and other staff members.
