The Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for a Tree Trimming Supervisor to supervise the trimming, pruning, planting, transplanting, removing, shaping, spraying, and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubs.As a Tree Trimming Supervisor, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Supervising and instructing tree trimming crew members.
  • Courteously and appropriately handling any problems with the public on the job sites.
  • Following and enforcing all rules, policies and programs of the section.
  • Responding to emergencies involving city trees.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the trimming, pruning, care and removal of trees and shrubs.LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
The following license and certificates are required for the job at the time indicated.At the time of application:
1. Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile).Prior to Appointment:
2. Current State Department of Transportation medical examination certificate.
3. Completion of Hearing Conservation Program TestPrior to Completion of Probation:
4. State of Hawaii Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
5. Current First Aid/CPR and AED certificates.
6. International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist credential.All required licenses and certificates must be obtained by the time indicated and maintained on a current basis thereafter during the course of employment in the position. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:
In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated.
