- Installs conduit, wire, panel switches, control fixtures, and electrical equipment. Installs and maintains conventional industrial equipment such as transformers, motors, motor controls, relays, etc.
- Troubleshoots, locates and diagnoses deficiencies in electrical equipment, motors, transformers, fixtures, control panels, etc. Determines need for repair or replacement, best and safest method of restoring interrupted service.
- Modifies and maintains electrical connections between outlets, pull boxes, breaker panels, etc.
- Has working knowledge of phone system, system wiring, and is computer literate.
- Makes operational tests using such instruments as voltmeters, ammeters, etc.
- Uses all standard tools such as electrician's hand tools, soldering irons, wire pullers, etc.
- Updates all electrical drawings for facilities
- Reviews own work for completeness and quality workmanship standards.
- May perform limited maintenance work in other areas such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, etc.
- Performs related work requiring equal or lesser skills as assigned.
- Comprehends and is able to explain, wiring and circuit diagrams, installations and construction blueprints, electrical handbooks and charts, and conducts all work in accordance with National Electric code and local ordinances and established trade practices.
- Reports to Maintenance supervisor.
- Requires ability to read and write and follow verbal and written instructions. A thorough completion of high school. A through knowledge and understanding of electrical theory and shop practices, federal , state, municipal and underwriters specifications, codes and ordinances
- Requires minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in the field of electrical maintenance, including applicable vocational training, to qualify for the classification.
- Requires minimum of four years of progressive experience in the field of electrical maintenance, an E1 license including applicable vocational training
