Role OverviewWe are looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Mechanic to Support our Advanced Material & Chemicals division in Rochester, NY.As an Electrical and Instrumentation Mechanic you will be responsible for the following job functions:
  • Electrician & Instrumentation skilled trade service to provide multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install and make improvements on film manufacturing equipment, complex processing equipment, chemical processing equipment, building general systems (includes instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls (PLC's & distributed control systems (DCS), and a wide range of electrical components)
  • Ability to calibrate process control instruments tight tolerances using sophisticated calibration equipment.
  • Ability to achieve a high level of expertise to effectively troubleshoot and repair equipment, including root cause analysis.
  • Some experience or expertise in mechanical, piping, HVAC equipment and controls.
  • Includes maintenance of motors, breakers, starters, variable speed drives, process controls devices, heat tracing, lighting, etc.
  • Calibrate, align and make adjustments with test equipment and measurement equipment.
  • Installation of conduit, wiring, switches, relays, lighting, circuit breakers using power tools and hand tools
  • Install upgrades to enhance or replace outdated control systems.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Data entry and report writing including ISO documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
  • Ability to change based on priorities

  • Able to read electrical, instrument and machine drawings
  • Able to read/modify PLC programs to troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Understanding of new electrical codes for hazardous environments (flammable liquids)
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent safety record - places safety and environment as top priority in all work
  • Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out
  • Effective communication skills - daily communications with leaders, maintenance planner, technical staff, engineering and operations as needed.
  • Team player - willing to be flexible, often work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work off of ladders or scaffolding, in some awkward positions
  • Indoor and outdoor work assignments
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
Qualifications:
  • HS diploma, and a 2-year degree or some level of instrumentation, electrical of demonstrated trade experience.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business needs dictate.
