Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.What You’ll DoThe Department of Finance manages the city’s investing, fiscal analysis, budgeting, debt and asset management, tax assessment and collection, and accounting functions as well as establishing, maintaining, and enforcing fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The Department commits to Denver residents the delivery of these services through a financial structure that mirrors the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.We are currently hiring 3 positions, 2 in the Special Accounts unit and 1 in the Taxpayer Services unit.Special AccountsThe 2 positions available in the Special Accounts unit will support the Treasury Division with all aspects of property tax including providing assistance and responding to inquiries from multiple internal and external stakeholders for real estate property tax information both via email and over the phone, processing property tax payments, reviewing refunds for completeness and accuracy, and other duties related to the real estate tax cycle.Taxpayer ServicesThe 1 position in the Taxpayer Service unit of the Treasury Division is a front-facing customer service unit responsible for providing excise and property tax education and serving the public directly in person and by phone. The position also includes cash handling and reconciliation duties following established fiscal rules.Specifically, as a Special Accounts and Taxpayer Services Tax Technician II you will:Review payment and/or refund documentation to accurately post payments or refund overpaymentsProvide high level customer service to both internal and external customers including banks and mortgage companies, title companies, taxpayers, and other City and County of Denver departmentsResearch and respond to questions regarding tax billing, payments, laws, and policiesAssist in processing and distributing mail received by TreasuryBe able to prioritize tasks and have excellent time management skillsPerform other related duties as assigned or requestedAbout YouWhat You’ll BringWe value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels.
