- Key duties will include scheduling; submittals; preparing installation drawings for superintendent; compiling as-built data; verifying installation quantities; field quality inspections and testing.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for various materials and activities in order to procure and forecast material needs.
- Review and verify accuracy of subcontractor and supplier invoices.
- Utilize E360 to create and track Work Orders and Purchase Orders for equipment repairs.
- Maintain daily reports in Heavy Job.
- Compile necessary information for all submittals and coordinate with Document Control to ensure proper documentation.
- Assist Superintendent with coordination of material deliveries.
- Perform field verifications, inspections, and measurements.
- Work closely with document control and field personnel to ensure they have latest drawings and installation documents.
- Provide schedule update information to project scheduler.
- Ensure that work is correctly cost coded and all extra work is coded to separate cost codes as assigned by the Project Engineer or other.
- Update drawings with redlines of as-built information.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Construction Engineering; 2-5 years Railroad Construction experience preferred.
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a construction related position preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- AutoCAD skills a plus. Will provide training as needed.
- Construction management course work or internship experience a plus.
- Must be flexible in working in both office and field environment as needed.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Must have strong organization skills.
- Must be highly motivated.
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
- Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
- Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
- Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
- Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
