- Responsible for the overall management of the Renton Smoked/VA QC department functions.
- Monitor OBS-Renton Smoked/VA production for compliance with HACCP food safety and quality standards, to ensure plant’s products are safe to eat and meet company and customer specifications.
- Serve as SQF Practitioner for the Renton facility. Responsible for the development, implantation, review and maintenance of the SQF system. They shall understand the SQF Code and requirements to implement and maintain SQF Systems relevant to the scope of certification.
- Supervise and train the OBS-Renton QC Technicians in the HACCP, quality, sanitation, and GMP monitoring duties, to ensure the work is done properly and done consistent with plant’s HACCP, quality, sanitation, and GMP standards. Where HACCP monitoring has been assigned to persons other than QC (such as production personnel, warehouse personnel, and sanitation personnel, etc.), provide training to such persons in proper HACCP monitoring procedures.
- Manage and maintain records for all required OBS Renton Smoked QC staff training in the OBS Smoked Renton Employee Training Matrix. Perform new QC Technician Training and yearly QC refresher training and assist in fulfilling plant-wide employee onboarding and yearly training requirements.
- Review daily the HACCP and QC monitoring records completed by various staff and ensure that they are complete and accurate. Ensure that HACCP and Food Quality Plan deviations are properly identified and addressed. Follow-up with appropriate persons on any corrective actions needed, by interacting with departments in Renton operations (production, maintenance, sanitation, etc.) as necessary.
- Keep plant management and the Corp. QA Manager-Renton Smoked/VA timely informed of any deviations to HACCP food safety program critical limits, and corrective actions taken.
- Provide Monthly Key Performance Indicators report on Food Safety and Quality Programs.
- Maintain SQF Document Control for all HACCP, Food Safety, Prerequisite Programs and Quality Program monitoring.
- Manage/maintain QC laboratory equipment, including QC equipment calibration schedules, and routine cleaning/maintenance of QC lab monitoring/testing equipment. Oversee the SQF Equipment Calibration Program.
- Oversee the execution of required testing identified in the Listeria Control Program. Ensure that required tests are carried out each week, including providing direction on locations and products to be tested.
- Maintain Production spreadsheet and Micro Testing Results spreadsheet – also appears on QC Lead Job description.
- Fill in for QC Techs on an as needed basis (e.g., vacation, illness, etc.).
- Perform the Monthly Facility and Grounds GMP and Sanitation audit and provide a written report to OBS Renton Ops Management of such. With OBS staff ensure that appropriate corrective actions are completed.
- Serve as SQF Practitioner during SQF audits, at the discretion of the Director of Food Safety and QA
- Assist Renton Smoked/VA with investigations and food safety evaluations, as needed/requested.
- Assist with off-site Raw Material and Finished Product inspections as requested
- Assist with interaction with regulatory inspectors or customers inspections as requested.
- Follow all company safety rules.
- Respond to change proactively and handle other duties as requested.
- BS degree, including completion of HACCP, GMP, and Sanitations training; or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 year QA/QC Manager and supervisory experience
- Previous experience with Northwest seafood products desirable.
