- You'll be working with a global, cross-functional team to ensure quality in all phases of the manufacturing value stream from raw material supply to customers' utilization.
- This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will be leading the implementation of effective problem-solving methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- You'll be managing a team of Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors.
- Your objectives will be to achieve strategic quality improvement objectives, ensure timely resolution of quality incidents, and maintain an effective Quality Management System.
- Your fit in the organization will be as a key player in achieving quality improvement goals and driving continuous improvement efforts.
- You will be supporting Advanced Product Quality Plans (APQP) for new and existing products, as well as developing supplier quality initiatives.
- This position is vital to Gates because it ensures our products meet and exceed customer specified requirements and industry standards.
- Managing the execution of quality initiatives and corrective and preventive actions across all manufacturing value streams to achieve strategic quality improvement objectives.
- Ensuring effective and timely completion of root cause investigation and resolution of customer, warranty, and supplier quality incidents using best practice 'closed loop' methodologies and Gates Quality Management System requirements.
- Guiding quality resources in utilizing APQP-based management systems to achieve Gates' objectives in sales growth and product vitality while reducing the risk of defects.
- Maintaining an effective PPAP submission process to ensure timely and accurate part qualification for customers.
- Owning the internal quality management system audit process & Layered Process Audit (LPA) program.
- Developing Gates supplier quality through assessments, nonconformance corrections, and supplier development project execution.
- Identifying gaps in process control plans and coordinating improvement actions to meet Cost Of Poor Quality objectives.
- Maintaining the certification and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Playing a crucial role in the Change Management Process by ensuring the effectiveness of implementation and validation actions.
- Evaluating the performance and development needs of the quality organization and implementing development actions in advancement of succession plans.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in quality assurance roles, including a minimum of three years in a management or supervisory capacity.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate college degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (E.g., Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, etc.) preferred.
- Working knowledge of automotive industry core tools (AIAG - APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.) and quality assurance problem-solving tools (E.g., 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagrams, DOE, 8D, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of management both internally and externally.
- Strong leadership skills with the capability to influence, coach, and partner across multiple levels and locations of the company.
- Proficiency in using common PC applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Office, MS SharePoint, MS PowerPoint.
- Preferred certifications such as Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Manager (CQM), Quality Auditor (CQA), or Six Sigma Black Belt through ASQ or equivalent.
