- Greet all patients upon arrival at check-in window.
- Check patients in for visits.
- Assist patients and family members before, during, and after a doctor’s visit.
- Prepare, restock and sterilize examination rooms and all other patient care areas.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist physician as needed.
- Record patient medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
- Measure and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure.
- Where applicable, perform EKGs, Pulmonary Function tests, and Body Composition Scans per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Where applicable, perform injections per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Give allergy injections on rotation with other staff members.
- Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Relay messages from patients and staff to providers.
- Represent office in a professional manner. Treat all patients, guests, and coworkers in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality using HIPAA regulations and document information accurately.
- Use appropriate guidelines for releasing patient information.
- Attend required meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification from approved entity or
- Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved entity or
- 1+ year experience working as a Medical Assistant and performing functions as listed above in Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, must be a team player.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Ability to work from both office locations as needed.
- Possesses both MA Certification and MA Diploma
- Allergy and/or Primary Care practice experience
- Athenahealth electronic medical record experience
- Experience performing manual blood pressure check, pulmonary function test, and EKG
