QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a current teacher license in special education or have a long term sub licenseDIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building PrincipalCONTRACT DAYS & HOURS: Contracted for teacher workshop days on August 26th-28th. School year begins on Sept 3rd and this position has a tentative end date of November 19th. The exact end date may need to be shifted a small amount forward or back based on circumstances. On contract days, building hours are typically 7:30am - 3:30pm, but may be occasionally changed or extended to help fulfill professional duties. Additional time outside of the building will be needed to successfully complete duties and responsibilities listed below.TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:Provide specialized instruction to help address IEP goals and objectives while in resource timeRoutinely track and monitor student progress towards IEP goals as well as academic progressDevelop innovative lesson plans for classes that encourage engagement and promote learning in either co-taught or replacement coursesConduct classroom and student instruction in a way that helps each and every student learnDevelop IEPs for students that meet all of the needs and goals of the student as well as complying with all current state and federal regulationsFacilitate IEP meetings for your caseload and complete the appropriate documentation within the legally mandated timelinesHelp general education teachers modify lessons and activities to meet the needs of all students with IEPsConduct evaluations and reevaluations as needed for the students on your caseloadWork with classroom teachers for students on your caseload to help ensure success and accountability for the studentsRegularly communicates with parents/guardians about academic progress and behavior to help promote a cooperative approach to helping students growCollaborates with department members and other colleagues to help improve both the student experience and instructional techniquesParticipates in building wide activities to help promote a positive culture for both students and staffCoordinate with full time teacher to keep them informed of student progress and to receive consulation.Help provide a safe and appropriate environment that not only promotes student success but also holds them accountable for meeting expectationsPROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Helps students learn all appropriate state standards for their subject area/grade level as defined by the district approved curriculumResponsible for creating instructional activities and lesson plans for all days that student days, including when the staff member is absentAssess student learning and performance on a regular basis, providing feedback to both the student and their parent/guardian through our online portalAvailable outside of the school day to meet with colleges, administrators, students, and parents when required or requested to fulfill other job dutiesMaintain accurate and complete records regarding grades, attendance, progress, and behavior for studentsIs knowledgeable of and actively works to uphold and enforce school board policies, administrative procedures, and school rulesRegularly checks email and other methods of correspondence to ensure knowledge is up to date and the lines of communication remain openAttend additional trainings, both in building and out, as needed to stay up to date and current on instructional best practices, behavior management techniques, and content specific itemsRegularly demonstrate a growth mindset for both students and staffTake creative risks to help students learn more effectivelyMaintain a positive and professional approach when interacting with students, parents, community, and other staff**This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee will also perform other reasonable, related business duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor and other management.
