The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking two highly motivated candidates to fill temporary summer laborer positions. The work will include pressure washing facilities and equipment, light landscaping, and job-site clean-up throughout EWEB’s Water Distribution System located in Eugene, Oregon, and the surrounding areas.The successful candidates will have the ability to work independently, learn quickly, interact with customers and the public in a respectful and courteous manner – and will have the opportunity to learn about the utility industry, our staff, roles within EWEB, and future EWEB opportunities!The skills needed to be successful in this role include:
- Must be comfortable working around water storage reservoirs and other structures related to EWEB’s drinking water transmission and distribution system. Will utilize pressure washers and fire hoses to clean EWEB facilities.
- Must have experience using ladders and following proper ladder safety protocols. Experience with Fall Protection is helpful. The tallest ladder is 20’, but most are 12’.
- Light landscaping and brush removal experience are helpful. Will load landscaping materials and brush into the back of the truck. Will stock the truck for the day and load tools.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather – and must love the sun!
- Knowledge of and familiarity with hand tools
- Ability to use a shovel, and other digging equipment
- Ability to perform job site clean-up
- Ability to lift 50 pounds – will be lifting pressure washers on and off trucks, trailers, and ledges at heights of 3 feet or less
- Must have an excellent safety record
- Will be working in public view – professional work behaviors and courteous customer service skills required
- Driver’s License and ability to drive are required – candidates will be assigned an EWEB light-duty service truck and will drive daily from EWEB’s Roosevelt Operations Center (4200 Roosevelt Blvd) to the assigned work site within, or close to, Eugene city limits. Some driving during the workday will also be required between sites depending on the nature of the work.
