- Work collaboratively with a team of 9 electrical, IT, refrigeration, and maintenance staff to ensure the barge is operating efficiently to maximize production.
- Responsible for assisting with the installation and troubleshooting of a variety of IT related items, systems controls, production equipment and overall electrical systems.
- Provide support as needed to the engineering and maintenance staff in the operation and repair of all other barge related systems to include but not limited to ice machines, spiral freezers, evaporators, compressors, pumps, water makers, generators, centrifuges, RSW equipment, sanitary systems, and hydraulics.
- Use industry related hand and power tools to accomplish a variety of IT and Electrical tasks.
- Complete required safety trainings, with an emphasis on Coast Guard regulations.
- Work with the Engineering and Maintenance staff to maintain a safe working environment emphasizing a zero-accident tolerance mentality.
- Maintain the barge and engine room areas in a clean and orderly fashion knowing that the barge can be inspected by state and federal agencies with or without advance notice.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience working with IT and Electrical Systems a plus though is not absolutely required.
- Must have an eagerness and ability to learn new concepts in the IT and Electrical fields.
- Previous experience working aboard a processing ship/barge would be ideal.
- Possess the skills and ability to learn how to repair, maintain and troubleshoot multiple systems onboard a barge.
- The person in this role must know the limits of their knowledge and ask questions or seek assistance as needed to complete tasks.
- Clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with the maintenance staff and engineering group.
- Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work 12+ hour days 7 days per week over a 60-70 day season.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds individually, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
