Job Description:The Biostatistician I provides statistical support services to faculty, staff, and students at UTMB.Specific Job Related Duties:
  • Provide statistical support services to UTMB faulty, staff and students
  • Collaborate with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments or surveys, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.
  • Assist with client data organization and management.
  • Perform statistical computations.
  • Provide graphical and tabular representations.
  • Develop, maintain and modify programs for in-house use.
  • Perform non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.
  • Analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate decisions/recommendations. Communicate technical information to non-statisticians.
Salary Range:From $70,000-$75,000 annuallyMinimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field.
Preferred Work Experience:
  • Two years of related experience in Statistics or Biostatistics
  • Experience in analyzing health outcomes from health insurance claims data
Preferred Skill/Competency:
  • Personal computer
  • Proficiency in computing, including knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R, or SQL
  • Familiar with database management
  • Problem-solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Knowledge of statistical and scientific research design.
  • Knowledge of data files handling techniques.
