Position Description:The primary care adult/gerontological nurse practitioner program director at the University of Iowa College of Nursing is an innovative and collaborative individual, committed to the mission of the University of Iowa, and passionate about preparing nurse practitioners to meet the health and healthcare needs of adults and older adults of Iowa and across the Nation. The program director cultivates a program of academic and clinical excellence making the University of Iowa Adult Gero Primary Care program the preferred choice for graduate students, especially in Iowa.The Program Director is responsible for the daily operation of the Adult Gero Primary Care program and will serve as a strategic, academic, and operational leader in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Graduate Practice Programs (ADGPP). This position can be from 75-100% appointment to allow a practice day if desired.The Program Director will collaborate with faculty and the ADGPP to ensure students learn through inter-professional, interdisciplinary, and team-based approaches as they prepare for future careers as healthcare leaders.Furthermore, the program director will show demonstrated experience in promoting inclusion through the creation of a welcoming and respective environment that in spirit seeks a broad spectrum of faculty candidates whose scholarship, clinical practice, or teaching has given them experience working with diverse populationsThe Program Director will receive sufficient release time to support maintenance of certification, clinical expertise, licensure, and continuing professional development specific to the maintenance of certification in the primary care of adults and older adults (ANP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-C, AGNP) . The Adult Gero Primary Care Program Director will report directly to the Associate Dean of the Graduate Practice Programs and their Divisional Head.   • Earned doctorate in nursing (Research or Practice Doctorate),
  • Licensed Registered Nurse, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, and eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
Required Qualifications:
  • DEA registration and Iowa Controlled Substance License (or eligible for licenses)
  • Three or more years of clinical experience providing primary care services to adults and older adults
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in formal teaching in nursing education and/or recognized preparation for teaching in an academic setting
  • Experienced in professional leadership or preparation for leadership roles, and
  • A commitment to supporting and enhancing welcoming and respectful professional and learning environments
Certifications:
  • National nurse practitioner certification in Adult Primary Care or Adult/Gero Primary Care (ANCC certification as ANP-BC or AGPCNP-BC, or AANPCB certification as ANP-C or AGNP)
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Professional service to nursing/health organizations
  • Record of scholarship (publication and professional speaking)
  • Eligibility for Associate or Full Professor-Clinical or Tenure Track
  • Academic leadership
