I'm partnered with the CFO at a multi-million dollar consumer goods company in downtown Chicago (operating on a hybrid schedule). Reporting directly into the Director of Finance (who we placed as the Controller 2 years ago and already got promoted!) and with high visibility to the CFO, the Accountant will receive all the mentorship and training needed to grow your skillsets and be successful in this role. They are wanting this individual to quickly progress into a Senior Accountant and beyond. Day-to-day responsibilities will be assisting in the month-end close process and supporting the CFO in any ad hoc requests to gain any/all exposure.
  • Highly visible role reporting directly to the Director of Finance + CFO exposure
  • Remote Working Opportunities (2 days work from home)
  • Handle day-to-day responsibilities including vendor payments and reconciliations, sales tax payments and reconciliations, etc.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the month-end closing process, including preparing month-end journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP and internal controls, including bank and credit card reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, depreciation, etc.
  • Complete/review monthly account reconciliations, including variance analysis.
  • Preparation of various ad-hoc analysis as needed from the Director of Finance or CFO.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with FP&A with long-range planning and annual budgeting process.
  • Ensure integrity of financial data, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit ethics and integrity.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • CPG, Manufacturing, or relative industry preferred
  • Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking, and the ability to think outside the box and improve existing processes
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • ERP system experience (preferred) or other accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage Intacct
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • CPA preferred or the pursuit of such certification
