Job Description:Summary:The Vice President-Strategy will be a significant contributor and thought leader to the President and Chief Strategy Officer, the rest of the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors of Emprise Group. This position will play a significant role in strategic decision-making, partnering closely with the President and Chief Strategy Officer. The Vice President-Strategy will partner with the President and Chief Strategy Officer in identifying, executing and overseeing all capital markets activities, including all new debt, equity and quasi-equity capital raising efforts and ratings agency activities. The Vice President-Strategy will assist the President and Chief Strategy Officer with all acquisition, joint venture and strategic growth initiatives, developing relationships with a broad range of investment banks, family offices, insurance companies and other potential capital providers and with identifying, cultivating, and evaluating strategic investment opportunities in alignment with the company's investment criteria established by the Board of Directors from time to time. The Vice President-Strategy will oversee the company's enterprise risk management program and related risk management, monitoring and reporting practices, including the company's third-party commercial and internal captive insurance programs and the establishment of an effective internal controls function. The Vice President-Strategy will assist in continuing to drive the design and implementation of a metric-based business framework and will help build and improve upon business processes and analytical disciplines that promote proactive analysis, strategic/critical thinking and data-driven decisions. The Vice President-Strategy will integrate into the culture and establish himself/herself as a respected member/thought leader within the finance and executive leadership team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Vice President-Strategy will partner with the President and Chief Strategy Officer and the rest of the executive management team to create value for investors, potential investors and employee-owners.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will assist the President and Chief Strategy Officer with the development of the organization's consolidated long-term strategic plan, including the development of key investment criteria aimed at value for investors, potential investors and employee-owners and participating in the development and implementation of a long-range financial plan in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the achievement of the organization's overall strategic and operational objectives.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will partner with the President and Chief Strategy Officer in identifying, executing and overseeing all capital markets activities, including all debt, equity and quasi-equity capital raising efforts and related ratings agency activities.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will assist the President and Chief Strategy Officer with all acquisition, joint venture and strategic growth initiatives, including the financial evaluation of and completion of all investment activities.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will work to develop relationships with a broad range of investment banks, private equity funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and other potential capital providers and, together with the President and Chief Strategy Officer, will interface with existing and potential investors on the performance of the business.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will oversee the management and performance of the company's portfolio of investable assets, including marketable securities, ensuring the achievement of appropriate risk-adjusted returns.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will oversee and coordinate the company's cross-functional enterprise risk management program, including the establishment, implementation and maintenance of relevant risk management, monitoring and reporting policies, practices and procedures.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will lead the potential formation and operation of a captive insurance company subsidiary and oversee the ongoing maintenance and evaluation of third-party commercial insurance coverage and exposures.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will partner with the President and Chief Strategy Officer in developing and implementing commodity, foreign currency, interest rate and other risk management strategies and related reporting requirements.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will help establish, implement and maintain an effective control environment, including the establishment of a set of standards, processes, structures and practices that provide the basis for ensuring effective internal controls across the entire organization and related reporting requirements.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will serve as a key advisor and contributor to the company's 401(k) committee and ESOP committee, interfacing with relevant financial, legal and regulatory advisors, which includes shared fiduciary responsibilities with the Chief Human Resources Officer and other key members of management, on the terms and subject to the limitations established from time to time by the Board of Directors and the Compensation Committee.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will partner with the President and Chief Strategy Officer, the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Chief Legal Officer regarding the formation and ongoing operation of the Emprise Foundation, a newly-formed private foundation that will support the organizations combined philanthropic efforts and that will establish an employee-owner dependent scholarship fund.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will facilitate and drive key strategic initiatives from inception to completion.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will develop statistical and management reports and will, from time to time, report to the executive management team and Board of Directors regarding matters of individual responsibility.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will analyze current and future competitive dynamics, market share data, product line performance and macroeconomic factors impacting the business.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will integrate into the culture, establish himself/herself as a trusted and respected thought leader, and actively engage with all operating subsidiary management and other functional leaders across the organization to help improve organizational effectiveness and to continue to build a growth and ownership culture and mindset.
  • The Vice President-Strategy will actively demonstrate and reinforce the organization's key principles - accountability, collaboration and courage, entrepreneurialism, integrity and respect.

  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience Requirements:
  • 15 + years in an accounting/finance environment. Management Experience required.
  • Competencies:
  • Critical thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and / or approaches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software programs.
  • Technologically savvy and able to demonstrate competence in a variety of technological platforms and processes.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, friendly, professional and proactive manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.
