Job Summary/Basic FunctionSupervise high school aged youth in a structured dormitory setting.Provide mentoring services for Upward Bound Project participants and act as a student supervisor at all evening functions. Facilitate group discussions. Supervision of youth on field trips and service projects.Residential hall dorm supervision during nighttime hours of the resident program.Complete and maintain all appropriate records and case notes. Problem-solve and
implement corrective action under the supervision of, and in conjunction with, the Project Director.This position is available to Work-study, hourly waged students, and non-student applicants.
Required QualificationsCompletion of at minimum the sophomore year in a post-secondary institution with a major in a pertinent discipline or evidence of knowledge and/or experience working with at-risk youth in a residential setting.
Experience and/or knowledge of the special problems of the minority, low income, first generation, and physically disabled students.Demonstrated effectiveness in working with high school students from similar backgrounds.
Preferred QualificationsSeeking applicants with:
BA/BS in the pertinent disciplineA graduate of a TRIO program or experience in overcoming the challenges and/or circumstances similar to those of the target population.Preferred CPR/First Aid certified

Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection).
The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
