- Ability to perform heavy manual labor and follow oral and written instructions without close supervision
- Skill in the use of hand and mechanical tools and equipment is necessary
- Experience in operating backhoes, loaders and other heavy equipment
- Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. The City offers CPR/AED and First Aid classes, which are free to Parks employees. - Graduation from high school, and some experience in grounds keeping or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the proper use and operation of equipment used in golf course maintenance.
- Mechanical aptitude and past experience as large equipment operator (such as large trucks, tractors, mower, golf course equipment, etc.).
the essential duties.Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.Incumbent may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions (i.e., domestic and wild animals, mechanical parts, vibration, etc.), extreme temperatures, and intense noise. Required to wear hearing protection. Required to walk on uneven terrain.The work often involves the ability to perform routine moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. including backpack mowers, tree trimmers, fertilizer bags and buckets with sand.
