Time Type: [[Salary]]POSITION SUMMARYDSV is seeking a highly experienced Logistics Engineer on out Property & Projects team to support existing distribution operations. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who are comfortable designing large complex distribution centers. Your superior communication skills, including the proven ability to effectively manage, influence and negotiate with external/internal business partners will be utilized in order to meet organizational demands. This individual will coordinate the resources required to upfit the new or existing distribution centers with the goals of achieving timelines, staying within budget, driving standardization and consistency within our network. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting large capital projects and aggressive schedule commitments.Logistics Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Property & Projects Engineering Manager, and collaborate with Operations, real estate, purchasing, and other support teams on design projects. This an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly work environment with a team that is dedicated and passionate.The Logistics Engineer is responsible for providing design and execution support for projects tied to existing or expanding business implementations in the North American region. The Logistics Engineer supports the designs of the overall facility layout, storage media, and flow paired with appropriate equipment supporting the Concept of Operations. The detailed design must meet customer and internal organizational requirements tied to Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Once approved, the Logistics Engineer will then manage the physical implementation of the design adhering to scope, timeline, and budget requirements set by the Project Manager.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Impeccable attention to operational detail, functional flow, and operational specifications.
- Analyze workflow including inbound, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping and VAS processes to ensure accuracy and ability to execute.
- Knowledge of the ways various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect outcomes.
- Ability to design and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Determine and gain agreement of final design of facility, operating process, equipment type and quantity
- Ensures all distribution system functionality is configured to optimize performance (e.g., WMS, LMS) Ability to leverage MS Project to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
- Develop and provide the detailed tasks required for successful implementation to the Project Manager
- Determine and gain agreement of final design of facility, operating process, equipment type and quantity
- Identify and procure all necessary capital expense items to support successful launch of operation
- Four-year degree is basic requirement (Industrial Engineering preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years Logistics/Supply Chain Industry experience
- 5+ years' experience in warehousing or industrial design
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Vizio, and AutoCad
- Aptitude for Microsoft Access
- Knowledge of WMS functionality
- English (reading, writing, verbal), Spanish a plus
- Interpersonal communication and language skills (e.g., listening to others, speaking to others, reading, writing).
- Communication (facilitation skills and very mature communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels in the organization).
- Good mathematical skills
- Experience dealing with end users, vendors and clients.
- Experience in 3PL environment
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Acts as the company representative with vendors and suppliers during project execution
- Comfortable in different roles, sometimes supporting, sometimes leading
- Other duties as assigned by management to support special projects, implementations, process improvements, etc.
- Typically warehouse work environment but could include manufacturing and transportation locations
- Ability to work in a construction environment.
- Working conditions are normal for a warehouse environment. Exposure to changing warehouse temperatures is possible.
