- Effectively manage projects, resources, and staff while providing expert technical guidance in geotechnical engineering across diverse projects—in both public and private sectors—and ensure strict adherence to applicable guidelines.
- Lead geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for buildings and infrastructure projects, including residential/commercial buildings, bridges, highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and levees/basins.
- Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geotechnical data interpretation, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring programs to ensure a high-quality, timely, and within-budget delivery of the projects.
- Supervise and lead geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, earthworks recommendations, slope stability and seepage analyses, lateral earth pressure calculations, and other pertinent analyses in support of a wide range of projects in public and private sectors.
- Supervise and lead geotechnical support during construction of geotechnical elements, including shallow and deep foundations, grading, utility trenching, and other earthwork operations.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel, ensuring that all
- Provide support for business development activities by fostering and maintaining long-term client relationships and developing a client base for providing high-level geotechnical engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.
- Play an active role in professional associations.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering suffices; a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering wows but is not a deal breaker.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.
- The successful candidate should be a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio (and/or Indiana, Michigan, or Kentucky).
- Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
- Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.
- Experience in construction oversight for foundation and pavement construction and earthwork observation.
- Experience with geotechnical engineering software.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and IBC standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to lead geotechnical projects and manage teams of geologists and geotechnical engineers.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on various private and government facilities.
