Essential Duties1. Develops and evaluates performance and reliability of test equipment. Determines types and number of tests to be performed on equipment. Recommends modifications to testing equipment. Analyzes results. 2. Uses blueprints, sketches and schematics. 3. Instructs laboratory support staff in construction and modification techniques. Develops time and cost estimates, material requirements and methodology. Orders materials and supplies. 4. May set up and operate machinery, hand and power tools, and other equipment for the fabrication, testing, and modification of instruments, equipment, components, and systems. May oversee support staff. 5. The MR Center is a long established interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research laboratory that provides state-of-the-art MR equipment, infrastructure, and expertise for the development and application of MRI and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) methodology in biomedical research. Research is focused on the development of novel low cost MRI systems. Clinical applications targeted include spine, liver, cardiac, prostate and breast imaging.We are looking for experienced RF engineers with expertise in transmit and receive RF coil design, preamplifiers, and other receive chain electronics, particularly at low field. Expertise in RF shielding, tuning and swept pulse designs will be considered a plus. Designs will include multi-channel Tx and Rx to be integrated with a novel MRI system.You will collaborate with a team of engineers on the construction of a novel low-cost MRI device in an environment where creative problem solving is encouraged.
