- Provides direct nursing care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policies and procedure, and state and local mandates
- Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Collects and maintains current health-related data, i.e. medical records, incident of diseases, physical and immunization records
- Administers and monitors medication, subject to local policy regarding the administration of medication at school
- Strives to remain current in the field of nursing through professional growth activities, workshops, in-services
- Provides crisis intervention support and/or emergency care for students and/or staff in the event of sudden illness or injury
- Serves as a liaison between home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector
- Cooperates with staff, administration, and parents to promote and maintain a sound healthy learning environment
- Serves on building and/or district committees as requested
- Participates in School Improvement Processes
- Administers hearing and vision tests, contingent upon appropriate certification
- Monitors students with specific medical needs
- Performs other health or school related duties as assigned
