Mechanical Engineer (PE) - Bremerton, WASpees Design Build (SDB) is seeking a full-time licensed Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Bremerton, WA. In this position, you will perform AEC design work with a team of other mechanical engineers and designers.
You will design building mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for various commercial and federal projects. Your typical day will include design calculations, building code, and industry standards review, meetings with clients, internal design team meetings, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team. You will join a mechanical team aiming to exceed client design expectations while delivering projects on time.SDB is a design-build firm that specializes in providing architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services. We work in teams, tackle exciting projects, and enjoy a stimulating and collegial environment. We are a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with offices in the Pacific Northwest and in the Southeast.You will be part of the dynamic architectural and engineering (A/E) design team within SDB’s Design-Bid-Build operations. This team is primarily involved in designing various project types within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center systems throughout the United States.Job Qualifications
- You have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- You have an active professional engineer license
- You have 8+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- You have experience coordinating with interdisciplinary teams
- You have experience with Revit and AutoCAD
- You have experience with HVAC load calculation software
- Trace 3D experience is a plus
- You are familiar with state and federal codes and industry standards
- Your LEED or WELL certification is a plus
- Your leadership or management experience is a plus
- Experience with federal design work and federal projects is a plus
- You will perform mechanical design tasks, including:
- HVAC load calculations
- Verifying compliance with building codes, energy codes, and various standards.
- Design calculations
- Space planning and equipment layouts
- Designing ductwork and piping systems
- Specification editing and review
- You will visit project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions
- You must be thorough and focused on design details
- You must be comfortable with and proficient at communication with the internal design team and the client
- You have a willingness to assist with any required tasks
- You take ownership of the mechanical design scope of work for a project and ensure all project requirements are achieved
- You coordinate and manage a small mechanical team to produce a high-quality deliverable while meeting project deadlines
- You participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routines and develop peer relationships, technical growth, and business contacts
- Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
- Able to lift to 15 pounds at times
- Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (20%)
- Authorization to work in the United States is required
