- Design and create new Oracle databases in support of both on-prem and in-the-cloud applications. As well as maintaining and enhancing the performance of existing databases with a strong emphasis on high availability/fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with Architecture and Application development teams in high-level data-tier design for hospitality products. This would include using appropriate database technology, evaluating query patterns, reports and analytics, data movement/distribution, and ensuring the proper usage of supporting indexes, partitioning, and in-memory features.
- Upgrade databases to the latest versions, monitor overall health using available tools (DPA, OEM, PMM, etc.), and take appropriate data management improvement actions like partitioning, indexes, in-memory tables, etc.
- Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical Production systems. Collaborate with TechOps to manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environments.
- Provide technical guidance to multiple application development teams in the design and development of database components. Provide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance, and performance tuning aid for the R&D and operational database teams.

- Mentorship, guidance, and support are continually given to fellow DBAs on the level 2 and level 3 DBA teams.
- Bachelor's degree or higher. Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years managing Oracle database technologies, such as Oracle 12c/19c, GoldenGate, and Exadata, in a highly available enterprise operation.
- 3+ years of experience working with MySQL and/or Postgres is preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience working in any NoSQL (or other database technologies used in the industry) technology is a plus.
- Understanding the hospitality transactional patterns for clear and concise capacity management is a plus.
- Overall domain knowledge and functional understanding of the Hospitality Industry is a plus: CRS, CRM, Loyalty, PMS, Sales and Events, RMS, Service Optimization, Channels and Distribution.
- Computing:
- Certification in one or more database platforms is preferred.
- Able to troubleshoot complex database engine performance or technical issues.
- Collaborate with Application development teams in designing databases and developing efficient queries based on load and use case.
- Collaborate with and understand the infrastructure team dependencies on the database environment.
- Ability to plan and execute tasks related to maintenance, upgrades, failovers, and other database system-sustaining activities as required
- Other industry certifications such as SAFe or ITIL are a plus
- Strong capacity for logical thinking and the ability to understand complex applications and systems.
