- Develop lightweight, multiphase inverters for aerospace applications from 600kW – 1 MW – primarily driving the hardware implementation OR
- Develop battery management and battery control unit hardware electronics for aerospace applications, from low voltage sensing and control to high voltage power delivery – primarily driving the hardware implementation.
- Design, test, and validate power electronics and high voltage battery electronics circuits, including hardware and software, in lab tests and in the field.
- Perform circuit and/or system design and integration at circuit board, enclosure, and system level.
- Setup and testing of motor/generator/inverter prototypes and high voltage battery management and control circuit prototypes including developing test procedures, measurement, and reporting.
- Interfacing hardware components including control systems, actuators, voltage and current sensors, power analyzers, encoders and vehicle management units.
- Modelling using Matlab/Simulink and PCB layouts with Altium or other similar tools.
- Define requirements for motor control software/firmware and/or battery management unit software/firmware.
- Hardware design for certification in airborne systems according to DO-254 and testing according to DO-160G or automotive safety systems to ISO26262.
- BS degree or MS degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, power electronics, or related discipline with 5-10 years of related experience.
- Mobile motor controller/inverter product design (full lifecycle) experience, ideally in the 600kW+ power range OR
- High voltage battery management system product design (full lifecycle), particularly for traction applications
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of power semiconductor devices in high voltage (
- Knowledge of voltage insulation testing and safety
- Experience in product development for aerospace or high voltage electric vehicle batteries is an advantage.
- Experience with airborne systems certification requirements, guidelines, and testing (FAR Part 23 & 33, ASTM F39 & F44, RTCA DO-160G, DO-178C, DO-254), is preferred. Alternatively, experience with ISO26262 is acceptable.
- EMI/EMC compliance testing and power electronics or high voltage electronics certification
- Technical writing skills to create engineering documentation within a certification and quality framework.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in electric propulsion.
