Overview: The key role of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is to identify students with a communication disorder that may adversely affect a child’s educational performance and/or to address the communication needs of students who have been identified as needing Speech Language Services within our Red Clay Schools.
Multiple SLP positions available including positions within traditional K-12 settings as well as the Red Clay Early Years Program & K-12 Autism Support classrooms.Duties:
  • Assess students to identify potential communication deficits/needs including articulation, expressive/receptive and pragmatic language
  • Write evaluation reports and Evaluation Summary Reports based on student needs
  • Generate, implement, and monitor Individualized Educational Programs
  • Plan and provide services for students with speech/language impairment as well as students with various disabilities qualifying for speech as a related service
  • Provide transdisciplinary speech and language services within the natural context of the school day
  • Support use of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) tools for students including modeling/support for classroom staff
  • Serve students and assist staff with feeding/swallowing concerns
  • Maintain case records for students including service logs, progress monitoring and quarterly goal reporting
  • Complete documentation of services and progress reports for Cost Recovery (Medicaid)
  • Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, and other school staff
  • Create schedule designed to meet all students’ service needs in collaboration with school/ staff schedules
Qualifications:
  • Completion of graduate program in Speech Language Pathology
  • Must meet national certification requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or requirements for the Clinical Fellowship (CF)
  • Eligible for Delaware State Professional License for Speech Language Pathologist
  • Experience serving students with autism preferred for positions within Autism Support classrooms
