- Via verbal and written communication, meetings and some travel, the Sourcing Lead’s core functions will be to support the Sourcing Director and the day-to-day needs of the Sourcing department and in turn the needs of Thruway.
- The Sourcing Lead’s daily activity will be a mix of collaboration with internal Thruway branch personnel (ISS, OSS, Quality), Thruway’s Supply Chain, Thruway’s Sourcing and Procurement Departments. In addition, the Sourcing Lead will complete independent work pertaining to both daily tasks as well as key focused projects.
- Thruway’s Sourcing Lead will work alongside the Procurement team to ensure development of suppliers who recognize, perform, and align with Thruway’s procurement processes, inventory goals and desired outcomes.
- Sourcing Leads will help to implement and validate the systems and processes that will serve as the foundation of the developing Sourcing department
- Source, contact, and evaluate suppliers with emphasis on quality, reliability, price and capacity
- Act as Support Silo on request for quotes ("RFQ")
- Support efforts in large Corp Customer RFQ’s: sourcing, cost, timeliness
- Support efforts in benchmarking strategic product categories
- Support efforts in high and medium risk sourcing category RFQ’s (new parts, specials to print) in addition to supporting Gap-Buy sourcing
- Ensure system data is accurate, up to date, and follows a path of continuous improvement
- Meet and communicate with suppliers to find the highest quality, lowest total cost components
- Identify new and evaluate existing vendors
- Align Thruway’s wants and needs with those of our customers.
- Support in cost reduction measures through benchmarking and re-sourcing initiatives
- Learn and evaluate Thruway’s customer base including but not limited to product mix, quality and delivery requirements and foster alignment with the proper suppliers
- Have a strong working knowledge of parts/components common to Thruway and continuously learn and educate on print interpretation, global standards, coatings, secondary processes, and new industry innovations
- Support GM’s and Sales team deliverables to our customers
- Lead data compilation and reporting to provide status updates on supply chain effectiveness and opportunities for improvement
- Support/lead in part number and description initiatives to ensure clean system data that is both monitored and improved upon on a continual basis
- 2+ years of previous Sourcing experience (from alternate industry)
- or 2+ years of previous industrial distribution experience
- or 4+ years previous high-paced office experience
- Strong Motivation to succeed in a multi-tasked fast-paced environment
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills
- Customer Services skills
- Strong ability to negotiate
- Excellent reading, typing and verbal communication and comprehension skills
- Be a good team player that is willing to help others as needed
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Sitting 80% of time and standing/movement 20% of the time
- Occasional travel to other branch locations and suppliers
