Tests are offered regularly at various locations across the country or can be taken at home. For local candidates, in person testing is currently scheduled once a month in Spokane, Washington.Step 2: Online ApplicationUpon passing the Public Safety Testing written exam you must complete the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office . Your PST score must be less than six (6) months old.Step 3: Physical Agility TestAfter passing the oral board interview, will need to pass the Idaho Physical Agility Test before the department begins your background investigation. This will be conducted by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office or at an for out of state applicants (see for further details).Step 4: Oral Board InterviewYour application will be reviewed and once it has been verified that all requirements have been met you will be invited for an interview. Candidates located out of the local region will be offered a zoom interview.Step 5: Background InvestigationUpon successfully passing the physical agility test you then undergo an extensive background investigation. Passing the background investigation requires an extraordinary level of integrity and honesty.Step 6: Final Requirements (Conditional Offer)With an offer of employment, you will be hired upon passing the following:
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Medical Examination
  • Pre-employment Drug Test

  • $29.90 per hour to start (includes .50 shift differential)
