NoOverview:
- Support the Laboratory’s mission by ensuring compliance with federal and state cultural resources laws and regulations including Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
- Work cooperatively with team members and to provide excellent customer service while helping projects avoid impacts to cultural resources.
- Conduct archaeological surveys, site recording, and monitoring, as well as review projects to assess potential impacts to cultural resources.
- Participate in writing reports and other documents as needed.
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Experience with cultural resources management work, laws, and regulations.
- Experience and/or interest in database management and development.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques, scientific methods, and/or data analysis.
- Experience doing archaeological fieldwork, specifically within the Southwest Region.
- Experience with GIS.
- Knowledge or experience working with indigenous peoples, especially in relation to cultural resource management issues.
- Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience conducting archeological fieldwork such as survey, site recording, and excavation, and preparing cultural resources reports, historic preservation documentation, or other documents written for professional or public use.
- Familiarity and experience with the archaeology of northern New Mexico.
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced experience identifying archaeological materials such as ceramics, lithics, or faunal remains.
